• When should I use Awayke™ MD ?
  Awayke™ MD tablets are used to relieve various symptoms of common cold and allergies including sneezing, running nose¹, itchy tearing eyes and itchy eruptions on skin (urticaria²).

• How is Awayke™ MD Beneficial to me?
  Allergy, in simple terms, allergy means an unpleasant reaction of the body to a foreign substance (allergen). Allergens trigger the release of chemical mediators, the most important among which, is histamine. Awayke™ MD (Loratadine) works by blocking histamine that is responsible for various allergic manifestations such as sneezing, running nose, itchy tearing eyes and itchy eruptions on skin (urticaria). 

• Is Awayke™ MD beneficial in all types of allergies?
  Awayke™ MD tablets are beneficial in relieving symptoms of various types of allergies including itchy eruptions on skin, sneezing, running nose, itchy tearing red eyes and itchy throat etc.

• Is Awayke™ MD an ayurvedic or an allopathic medicine?
  Awayke™ MD is an allopathic medicine, which is almost free from side effects if taken in recommended dose and for right duration.

• What is the recommended daily dosage?
  Adults & Children above 12 years                    :        One tablet daily
  Children aged 2-12 years                                :        Consult your Doctor
  Children below 2 years of age                          :        Not recommended
  Do not exceed the recommended doses.
  Place the tablet on the tongue, it disperses in few seconds. No water is required while taking the tablet.

• For how many days should Awayke™ MD be taken?
  The duration for which Awayke™ MD needs to be taken depends upon the problem for which it is being used. Several clinical trials have demonstrated it to be safe in recommended dosage of 10 mg even on prolonged use (3-4 weeks).

• What is the onset of action of Awayke™ MD ?
  Awayke™ MD (Loratadine) is a highly effective anti-allergic tablet (selective Histamine H1 receptor blocker). It starts exhibiting its effect within 1 to 3 hour, reaching a peak at 8 to 12 hours and lasting for about 24 hours.

• What are the benefits of Awayke™ MD tablets over other anti-allergic preparations?
  Major advantages of Awayke™ MD tablet over other anti-allergic preparations include the following:    

  • it is long acting, so it has to be taken only once during the day

  • it is non-sedating therefore, much less likely to cause drowsiness

  • it is less likely to cause side effects i.e. dry mouth, blurred vision, difficulty in urination (urinary retention), constipation and disturbed cardiac rhythm which are frequent with commonly used anti-allergic preparations

• Is Awayke™ MD beneficial in drug allergy ?
  Awayke™ MD is beneficial in relieving symptoms of various types of allergies including drug allergy. However, it’s always advisable not to take those medicines, you are allergic to.

• Is Awayke™ MD beneficial in allergy to cold?
  Awayke™ MD is beneficial in relieving symptoms of all types of allergies. Problems such as running nose, sneezing, itchy, tearing, red eyes and itchy throat on exposure to cold can be effectively relieved by Awayke™ MD.

• Is Awayke™ MD beneficial in reddish itchy eruptions due to mosquito bites?
  Yes, Awayke™ MD is beneficial in relief from reddish itchy wheals (eruptions) caused by insect bites including mosquito bite. 

• Is Awayke™ MD beneficial in food allergy? Do I Have to stop taking the food to which I am allergic to, for the lifetime?
  Commonly food allergy is due to eggs, milk, certain fish and peanuts. It is important to identify the exact food item causing allergy and avoiding them. It is not always necessary to stop taking the allergic food item for a lifetime; the same may be reintroduced in your diet without any problem after sometime. Awayke™ MD is an anti-allergic tablet, which can effectively help suppress symptoms due to food allergy. 

• Can I take Awayke™ MD if I have allergy and asthma like symptoms together?
  Yes, you can take Awayke™ MD for effective relief from allergy and asthma like symptoms. However, if the symptoms of asthma are severe and persistent, you may require some more medications, for which you should consult your doctor.

• Are there any side-effects of Awayke™ MD?
  Awayke™ MD is usually well tolerated and the side effects are mild. The side effects include fatigue, headache, dry mouth, dry nose and throat, drowsiness and sensitivity to sunlight. Rarely, jaundice and hepatitis have been reported.

• What to do if I miss a dose of Awayke™ MD?
  On missing the dose, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is near the time for the next dose then skip it and resume your usual dosing schedule. Never try to double the dose to compensate for the one not taken

Check before use
Before using Awayke™ MD,  it is important to check the following:  

• If you have or have had kidney or liver disease, dose of Loratadine may have to be reduced. Your doctor will determine if you need a different dose.

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your doctor before use.

• Safety of Loratadine has not been established in children less than 2 years of age.

• Ask your doctor if you are taking erythromycin, ketoconazole, medications for asthma or colds, medications for depression (MAO inhibitors), sedatives and tranquilizers.
