osteoporosis – Management
Goal
The goal of management in osteoporosis is to:
- prevent the development of osteoporosis
- prevent further loss of bone mass and delay the progression of disease, if already developed
- prevent falls and fractures
Medication
The aim of treatment in osteoporosis is to prevent further loss of bone mass (i.e. resorption of bone) and to stimulate bone formation, if possible. Medicines which can be used for this purpose are :
