Technique for inhalation from metered dose inhaler (MDI)
|Step I||Hold the MDI between the thumb and the index finger and shake the device 8 – 10 times.|
|Step II||Exhale out completely.|
|Step III||Place the mouthpiece in the mouth and clasp the lips tightly around it.|
|Step IV||Press the top end of inhaler once to release the dose of the medicine and simultaneously inhale steadily through your mouth (like you would suck a cold drink with a straw) and hold your breath for at least 10 seconds.|
Repeat all the above steps before taking the next puff.
How to use a Rotahaler
|Step I||Insert a rotacap (capsule) into the small hole of the rotahaler.|
|Step II||Hold firmly the top of rotahaler and rotate the base until the capsule breaks.|
|Step III||Breathe out through your mouth. Then breathe in as deeply as possible by placing the rotahaler between your lips.|
|Step IV||Hold your breath for 10 seconds and then breathe out.|
Repeat all the above steps for the next dose after disposing the used capsule.
How to use a Spacer
|Step I||The spacer is to be assembled properly by pushing the two halves into the notch and slot.|
|Step II||Shake the inhaler ( 8-10 times) and then insert it into the spacer.|
|Step III||Breathe out through your mouth. Then clasp the lips around the mouth piece of the spacer.|
|Step IV||Press the top end of inhaler, and then breathe in and out deeply through your mouth for 3-4 times. Hold your breath for 10 seconds.|
Repeat the steps III and IV for each puff.
How to use an Accuhaler
|Step I||Open your accuhaler by rotating the outer case (till you here a click).|
|Step II||Breathe out through your mouth. Then clasp the lips around the mouth piece of the accuhaler. (Never breathe into your accuhaler.)|
|Step III||Breathe in steadily and deeply. Hold your breath for 10 seconds.|
Repeat the steps II and III for each puff.
