The patient of COPD usually presents with :
- Daily early morning cough and phlegm (sputum) production initially during the winter months and later throughout the year.
- Breathlessness and wheeze (whistling sounds heard on exhalation).
- Increasing breathlessness on exertion.
- This breathlessness tends to be progressive in nature.
- Feeling of chest tightness.
Late stages – the patient is prone to repeated episodes of lung infections and heart failure
