An individualized multidimensional approach based on drugs, dietary management, exercises, yoga, Pranayama and other relaxation techniques is more effective in the management of Chronic bronchitis than conventional approach focused solely around drug therapy.
Yoga has proven to be beneficial in cases of Chronic bronchitis as is suggested in scientific studies that have been conducted so far. Patients experienced perceptible improvement in dyspnoea as was measured through objective parameters. Lung function parameters (VC, FEV1, PEFR) also improved after practice of Yoga.

Chest Massage: Deep muscle massage between the ribs, along the spine and between shoulder blades is effective in draining out the phlegm from the chest.
Diet Food to be preferred (Pathya)
- Green gram (Moong), Horse Gram (Kulath), Black Gram (Mash), Garlic, Draksha (Munnaka), Pomegranate (Anaar), Warm water, goat’s milk, Long pepper (Pippali), Black pepper, Ginger and pure honey.
Food to be avoided (Apathya)
- Oily food, sweets, curd & milk.
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid sleeping during daytime
- Avoid excessive sexual intercourse
