Hypertension is defined in an adult as a systolic pressure of 140 mm Hg or higher and/or a diastolic pressure of 90 mm Hg or higher. It is especially dangerous because it often has no warning signs or symptoms. Hypertension or High Blood Pressure is the condition when the Blood pressure is elevated to such a level that the person is at an increased risk of damage to various organs in the body. In Ayurveda there is no separate mention of hypertension. It has been mentioned as Raktagatvat in Vat Vyadhi (Disorders due to solely Vat imbalance).
