Fever
The normal body temperature is 98.6º F (37º C), but this may vary from individual to individual. A rise in body temperature above the normal is termed as pyrexia or fever. This may occur due to body’s response to infections or due to heat.
First Aid
- Make the individual comfortable to provide adequate rest.
- Give him / her plenty of bland fluids.
- If the fever is high, sponging with tepid water may help to bring down the temperature.
- If the body temperature does not reduce or fever is accompanied by other symptoms, consult a doctor.
