Potassium intake

Hyperkalemia (increased potassium levels in blood) is a common side effect of cyclosporin therapy. That’s why careful monitoring of potassium levels is important after transplant. Usually potassium restriction is advised to the patients and based on the frequent and regular monitoring of potassium levels.

High potassium food products such as certain fruits (especially banana, oranges, melons, prunes, apricots, avocados), certain vegetables (such as leafy green vegetables, potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes, beans, peas), milk and milk products should be avoided in Hyperkalemia.
