SATURATED FATS

 

  • Are usually solid at room temperature.
  • Are found primarily in animal products such as: meats (especially red meat) fatty meats, organ meat, egg yolks, dairy products such as whole milk, cream, ice cream, whole-milk cheese, butter, lard, fatty fish, poultry fat and some plant oils such as coconut oil, palm oil, palm kernel oil and cocoa.
  • Can elevate blood cholesterol levels and increase the risk of heart disease.
