When to ask for help…
Most cases of piles (hemorrhoids) resolve with time without any treatment, but may occasionally return. Immediately consult the doctor if you are having:
- persistent or heavy bleeding.
- abdominal pain.
- a change in the normal bowel habit (lasting more than two weeks).
- if piles (hemorrhoids) begin for the first time in someone over theage of 45.
- persistent pain around the anus.
- bleeding where the blood is dark red or mixed with the stools.
