GRAVE’S DISEASE –Risk factors
- Females are eight times more at risk of developing Grave’s disease.
- Usually occurs between age group of 20-40 years.
- More common during puberty, pregnancy.
- Tends to run in family.
- In Caucasians Grave’s disease has shown an association with HLA-B8, DR3 and DR2.
- Graves disease may be associated with other autoimmune disorders like pernicious anemia, myasthenia gravis, diabetes mellitus etc.
