HASHIMOTO’S THYROIDITIS – INVESTIGATIONS

  • Diagnosis of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is usually confirmed by thepresence of Thyroid peroxidase autoantibodies (95% cases) and thyroid autoantibodies (antithyroglobulin antibodies, in 60% cases).
  • Thyroid function tests usually are normal unless the patient has hypothyroidism.
  • Fine needle aspiration biopsy.
