Breakfast cereals

Granola

Ingredients  

  • Rolled oats (sweet)-1/2 Cup
  • Sesame seeds (sweet)- 1 Tbs
  • Mixed nuts-1 Tbs.
  • Sunflower seeds to taste
  • Cinnamon-1 tsp
  • Cardamom to taste
  • Grated orange peel to taste
  • Apple juice concentrate-2 Tbs
  • Date pieces- 1 Tbs.
  • Raisins/currants- 1 Tbs
  • Coconut (optional)

Method

  • Preheat the oven at 325oF.
  • In a bowl, combine the oats, sesame seeds, nuts, spices and orange peel. Mix well.
  • Add juice concentrate and mix well.
  • Spread this mixture in greased baking sheets and bake for 45 minutes, stirring frequently, until completely dried.
  • Allow cooling.
  • Now add the fruits and optional coconut. Store in an airtight container.

Prominent taste- Sweet Makes- 2 cups

Plain muesli

Ingredients

Rolled oats (sweet)-2 cups

Method 

  1. Preheat the oven at 325oF.
  2. Spread the oats in the greased baking tray and bake for about 45 minutes, stirring constantly, until it is completely dried.
  3. Allow cooling.
  4. Muesli can be stored in an airtight container for several weeks.

Variations- Different types of muesli can be prepared by this basic recipe. You can add dry fruits in it.

Prominent taste- Sweet, Sour, Pungent Makes- 2 Cups
