Studies have shown that weight loss not only helps in controlling diseases worsened by obesity but also decreases the risk of developing such diseases. Weight loss has been found to be helpful in:

  • Lowering blood pressure in obese individuals with high blood pressure and reducing risk of heart diseases
  • Lowering total cholesterol, LDL- cholesterol (bad cholesterol), triglycerides levels in blood and increasing HDL- cholesterol (good cholesterol) levels
  • Improving blood glucose levels in obese individuals with or without diabetes
  • Improving general sense of physical and psychological well-being (improved self confidence, perception of own body image)
